Wow. We’re still catching our breath from CEDIA 2025. This year’s show was one of the most memorable in madVR Labs’ history, and we want to take a moment to share it with you.
With nearly 20 Envy Extremes used at the show, including some last-minute additions to support our partners, the Envy was everywhere you looked — powering demos, headlining theaters, and helping our industry friends put on their very best presentations.
The big news: Envy was honored with 10 awards at the show. We hear that may be close to an industry record, but more importantly, it’s something we’re deeply grateful for — recognition from press, integrators, and enthusiasts across the board.

The main focus was on the newly announced Envy Core MK2 8K and Envy Extreme MK3. Between their upgraded GPUs, full 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 input/output, new gaming modes with VRR up to 360Hz output, Dynamic Subtitle Overlay™, and our ongoing focus on ease of use and integration, the new models are resonating strongly with the market.
But at the end of the day, the Envy is only part of the story. What really made CEDIA special was connecting with so many of you — hearing your feedback, answering questions, and seeing the excitement first-hand in demo rooms across the show floor.
From all of us at madVR Labs: thank you. These awards aren’t just about Envy. They’re about the community of integrators, dealers, partners, and enthusiasts who continue to support and push us forward.
Here’s to an amazing rest of the year ahead. 🚀

Rockville, MD – September 3, 2025 – madVR Labs, the industry leader in high-performance video processing for home theaters and media rooms, today announced the next generation of its acclaimed Envy video processors—the Envy Extreme MK3 8K-48G, Envy Pro MK3 8K-48G, and Envy Core MK2 8K-48G. These models set new benchmarks for performance, specifications, and intuitive operation—introducing HDMI 2.1 with full 48 Gbps input and output support, advanced GPUs, and groundbreaking features for both cinema enthusiasts and gamers, including Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support on the input and output up to 360hz. See the full specifications.
Core MK2 – Advanced Processing, Price/Performance Leader, 8K Ready The Envy Core MK2 (8350 EUR* through December 31, 2025, 9690 EUR* thereafter) builds on the popular Core MK1 and delivers major hardware advances, including a powerful NVIDIA 5060 GPU, a more robust CPU, and doubled RAM. It is 8K-ready, with support for HDMI 2.1 and full 48 Gbps input and output bandwidth for the highest-quality signals today and into the future.
For users seeking full 8K input/output upscaling and processing and the most aggressive low-latency gaming, the Core MK2 Premium package (1995 EUR*) unlocks these capabilities, adds other advanced features such as patent-pending Dynamic Subtitle Overlay™, and doubles the warranty from 2 to 4 years—delivering unmatched power, performance and price in its class, helping to make reference-level video processing more accessible than ever.
Despite its aggressive price, the Core MK2 offers full HDMI 2.1 capabilities alongside the award-winning feature set that defines Envy, including patented HDR dynamic tone mapping, instant aspect ratio management, bi-directional patent-pending Non-Linear Stretch (NLS+) for scope and 16:9 screens, AI upscaling, and DeinterlaceAI™, the world’s first AI deinterlacing engine in a video processor.
Like the Core MK1, the Core MK2 is well-positioned to continue as a popular choice to pair with more modest projectors, UST projectors, and high-end flat-panel TVs, popular on such displays for industry-leading AI upscaling, dynamic tone mapping, and non-linear stretch to reduce black bars without cropping content—and now enhanced with its new gaming performance.
The Core MK1 will continue as an aggressively priced option for more modest budgets at 6950 EUR*, with the Core MK1 Premium Package available at 1695 EUR* as of September 15, 2025.
Pro MK3 – Balanced Power with 5K/8K Upscaling and Gaming Support Replacing the Pro MK2, the Envy Pro MK3 features the NVIDIA 5060 GPU and HDMI 2.1 with full 48 Gbps support and advanced gaming capabilities, while enabling upscaling and processing for 5K and 8K with support for future AI algorithms. Positioned between the Core and Extreme, it offers a premium case, extended warranty, and future AI powered features at 12 490 EUR*.
Extreme MK3 – Industry Reference for the Pinnacle of Performance The Envy Extreme MK3 replaces the Extreme MK2 and raises the bar for flagship video processing. Featuring the powerful NVIDIA 5080 GPU, it provides extraordinary processing power and headroom for today’s demanding algorithms and tomorrow’s exclusive AI-driven advancements. It also features HDMI 2.1 with full 48 Gbps input and output support.
The Extreme MK3 includes several beloved and industry-first features: MotionAI™, the world’s first AI motion interpolation without the Soap Opera Effect; Geometry Correction for perfectly aligned projection even with off-axis, curved, or anamorphic lens setups without compromise; eligibility for future paid hardware upgrades; and an industry-leading 5-year warranty.
Pricing and availability of upgrade options for customers with Envy Extreme MK1 and MK2 models to move to MK3 will be announced closer to product availability in Fall 2025. MSRP for the Envy Extreme MK3 is 20 850 EUR*.
First and Only Video Processors with Full HDMI 2.1 and Advanced Gaming Support, Including VRR Up To 360Hz The new Envy lineup is the first and only video processor to feature HDMI 2.1 with full 48 Gbps input and output, along with VRR support on the input and output for ultra-smooth, very low latency gameplay, including support for 360Hz with DSC on the output for capable systems. This breakthrough ensures support for the highest bandwidth signals available today and in the future.
For the first time, the new Envy models introduce Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) on both input and output, enabling ultra-smooth, very low latency gameplay with modern gaming platforms such as PCs, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X, including support for 4K 120Hz 12-bit 4:4:4 for capable systems. A new low-latency gaming mode delivers a dramatic improvement in responsiveness compared to prior models, with very low latency. This gaming mode will also be introduced on earlier Envy models with an upcoming firmware update, with the newest HDMI 2.1 models offering the most aggressive low latency with VRR input and output.
“Our mission is to push the boundaries of video processing and deliver the ultimate picture quality for our customers, while ensuring it remains user-friendly and intuitive,” said Richard Litofsky, Co-Founder & CEO of madVR Labs. “With the launch of the Envy Core MK2 and MK3 series, we’re excited to usher in the next generation of Envy. These products not only introduce industry-first features like full 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 input and output but also unlock advanced gaming capabilities, including VRR and dramatically reduced latency—that our customers have been asking for. Whether for dedicated theaters or multi-purpose rooms, Envy continues to redefine what’s possible in high-end video processing.”
Major New Software Features Across All Envy Models madVR Labs is also preparing a major software release for Fall 2025 that will introduce powerful new features to all Envy models, past and present. This update brings exciting new features such as Dynamic Subtitle Overlay™ (“DSO”, requires Core Premium for Core owners), already receiving rave reviews from early previews with the press and enthusiasts. DSO seamlessly repositions subtitles into the active image with options to reduce subtitle brightness and size, and even adapts subtitle color to match the scene for harmonious integration.
Additionally, new low-latency gaming modes will be available across all past and current Envy models. VRR support further enhances gameplay responsiveness, with VRR input available on Envy Core MK2 (Core Premium required), Pro MK3, and Extreme MK3, while VRR output is supported on all models manufactured since December 2020 (Core Premium required for Core owners).
Also planned are multi-lingual menus that reinforce madVR Labs’ commitment to user-friendly design and global accessibility, with initial support for Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, and Spanish. Finally, DeinterlaceAI™, the world’s first AI deinterlacing in a video processor, breathes life into interlaced sources such as Blu-rays and 1080i broadcast TV, still prevalent in many countries.
Demonstrations and Availability These next-generation Envy models are planned to start shipping in Fall 2025. The Envy Core MK2 will debut at CEDIA Expo 2025 at the madVR Labs Deep Dive Demo Station (between Sound Rooms 6 & 7), showcasing its exceptional 8K input/output capabilities and new low-latency gaming performance with a PlayStation 5 Pro. The company invites attendees to stop by, meet the team, and experience the Core MK2 video processing and gameplay firsthand. The Envy Extreme MK2 will also be on display at over a dozen partner booths spanning the show floor.

Subtitles continue to gain popularity—not just for hearing assistance, but also for clearer comprehension of complex storylines, catching subtle dialogue, and understanding foreign films or accents. Yet they often cause frustration due to being unreadable or cut off in the black bars, glaringly bright, oversized, and so distracting that they can ruin the immersion of a movie.
Enter madVR Labs’ Dynamic Subtitle Overlay (DSO)—a patent-pending breakthrough that seamlessly activates to move subtitles into the active content area on scope screens whenever they appear even partially in the black bars—without shrinking the image.
Once activated, DSO can intelligently match subtitle brightness to the scene, reduce their size to obstruct less of the image, and adapt their color to blend with the scene’s palette. The result is a more harmonious, integrated, and truly cinematic viewing experience—free from the typical distractions of subtitles.
To understand why this is an issue and how DSO works to solve it, check out our new paper:
DSO is coming soon to the Core Premium, Envy Pro, and Envy Extreme as a free update—don’t miss these two A/B comparison images below, followed by the videos!

We are thrilled to announce that our madVR Envy Extreme MK2 has just been awarded the prestigious ProjectorCentral Editor’s Choice Award in this just-published, 5-star review! This is a testament to our dedication to providing the best possible video processing experience for our valued customers like you.
“The madVR Envy video processors provide a robust feature set that continues to grow and move this very small segment of the industry forward to keep up with today’s needs in video, while also setting madVR apart from the competition with their forward-looking outlook and approach to what today’s video processor can be and should be.”
“There’s a reason you see an Envy paired with so many brands at tradeshows. There’s a reason it has garnered so many accolades in the short time it’s been in the market. It really is a great product. When looking at the big picture of what it offers now and will offer in the future, such as MotionAI and other upcoming features being developed by madVR, it’s understandable why it receives the praise it does.”
“It has a very premium, high-end look and appeal, very attractive and much preferred over the MK1, and the included rack ears and mounting hardware are very much appreciated.”
“MotionAI really is one of the better implementations I’ve seen of motion interpolation. It even corrected the menu navigation on Apple TV and Kaleidescape, which I set in both devices to output at 23.976 Hz, resulting in menus that have a choppy look during navigation. With MotionAI, those menus looked as clean and smooth as when they are set to 60 Hz.”
“I’m glad to say that in most cases the MotionAI was right on the heels of Sony’s motion handling, or met it equally, or at times even exceeded it. The most impressive part to me was how little Soap Opera Effect there was, and therefore how well the MotionAI was able to improve clarity without losing that film-like look.”
“Instant Aspect Ratio control truly is instant […] and the transition is seamless, with each aspect ratio correctly displayed. There is no visible lag in the switch…”
“The original Envy Extreme (now designated the MK1) introduced a number of sophisticated features that have been brought along, including class leading frame-by-frame dynamic tone mapping for HDR, scaling, high-precision color calibration, and a wealth of others….”
“The Dynamic Tone Mapping that the Envy performs is some of the best I’ve seen. Regardless if the content is mastered with a maximum peak of 10,000, 4,000, or 1,000 nits, it’s displayed with a high APL while resolving detail that would normally be clipped if using a display’s own tone-mapping solution. This is also true when using the Envy for direct view displays such as an LED or OLED.”
“Those familiar or curious about Envy may have seen various videos of scenes from Harry Potter when he was fighting Voldemort alongside the ghosts of his parents in The Goblet of Fire, or shots from Aquaman when Aquaman is chained before his brother that show the detail in the window behind the throne. All of those impressive demos are legit; the Envy really does resolve all of that detail while keeping the picture bright and vibrant.”
“The Envy is capable of insanely large LUT (look-up table) calibrations allowing for interpolated 256^3 3D LUTs (16.7 million points) and 4,096-point 1D LUTs. The process is quick and produces outstanding results.”
“The Extreme MK2 is extremely quiet. I could only hear the unit if I was standing right next to it and putting my ear near it.”
“The menu system is laid out very well […] you’re not seeing a bunch of menus for stuff unrelated to what you’re trying to do. There is also a Help function on screen with a brief description of what you have highlighted.”
“If assistance is needed from a dealer, installer, or even madVR themselves they can (with the user’s permission) remote in and control the unit. Nor do you have to look much further than the new five-year parts-and-labor warranty on the Envy Extreme and Pro MK2 units to see proof of the company’s commitment to consumers and dealers. I believe that is unmatched for a product like this.”
“Fortunately, the Envy, especially with its constantly evolving feature set, will likely outlive anything in your theaterand serve you well into your next projector.”
“For all of these reasons—it’simpeccable engineering, superb build quality, future-focused features that truly enhance the viewing experience, and excellent customer support, it easily adds the ProjectorCentral Editor’s Choice award to its long list of accolades.”

Rockville, MD, April 12, 2023 – madVR Labs, the industry-leading manufacturer of high-performance video processors for high-end home theaters and media rooms, is thrilled to announce the Envy MK2 Series, the next generation of their acclaimed Envy Extreme and Pro video processors. The Envy MK2 represents a significant upgrade from the previous generation and further solidifies the company’s position as a market leader today and well into the future.
The madVR Envy MK2 is a true powerhouse, with a huge boost in GPU power, upgraded system components including ECC RAM normally only found in mission critical servers, a redesigned cooling system, a new aluminum face premium backlit remote control, and an exquisite custom case. Its new Glacier X2 cooling system delivers exceptionally efficient cooling, now essentially inaudible from just a couple of feet away when running in Silent mode.
The Extreme MK2 uses the Nvidia 4080 GPU, boosting GPU power by as much as 100% and providing important headroom now and into the future, for MotionAI and other AI-based algorithms. The Envy Pro MK2 will also feature an upgraded GPU over its predecessor, with a triple-fan design for enhanced cooling efficiency and noise reduction, and share the same high-end case and premium components (aside from the GPU) as found in the Extreme MK2.
The Envy MK2 is housed in a brand new, custom engineered all-aluminum 3 mm case with a 20 mm front plate and custom matching rack ears. The engineering process involved multiple rounds of obsessive prototyping, spanning a year and a half to ensure that every aspect of the MK2 was designed and built to meet the highest standards of quality and performance. The MK2 models come with an unmatched 5-year warranty on parts and labor to give customers peace of mind and confidence in its build quality.
The company’s vision is to use adaptable modern-day hardware to deliver products that take full advantage of the latest technological advances, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), such as found in their MotionAI per-pixel motion interpolation, another industry first for the company, currently in beta.
Audio Advice founderLeon Shaw, a 47+ year A/V veteran and industry icon, switched to the Envy Extreme as his video processor of choice after first seeing the Envy Extreme MK1 in 2020. He is ecstatic about the new Envy MK2 Series and says, “The completely redesigned MK2 brings the Envy to an entirely new level, making it an even better choice for any serious home theater. Some of the technology in the Envy MK2 is not only new for them but is revolutionary for the entire industry. In all my years, I’ve never seen a company go from a start up to a luxury brand in just three short years like madVR Labs has. I’ve been very impressed how fast their team innovates and love the fact they invite our feedback. And as an added bonus, their menu system is the best I have seen on a piece of AV gear. I can’t wait to see the future updates Envy rolls out for the MK2 version as its huge amount of processing power will allow them to continue down the innovation path.”
madVR Labs Co-Founder and CEO Richard T. Litofsky says “I am incredibly proud of our team for this accomplishment and grateful to our esteemed dealers, distributors, and customers around the world for their exceptional support and feedback, which was a driving force behind the MK2 design. We believe the Envy MK2 delivers on all fronts – best-in-class video quality and performance, build quality and high reliability, and ease of use.”
The company is currently taking orders for the MK2 models. The Envy Extreme MK2 is set to start shipping in limited quantities from late April 2023. Early units will ship with the MK1 remote control, which will be replaced at no charge when the premium backlit remote control is available shortly thereafter. The Envy Pro MK2 is expected to begin shipping in summer 2023. MSRP in Europe is 21,125 EUR* and 12,790 EUR* for the Extreme MK2 and Pro MK2 respectively. Please check with your authorized Envy dealer for details or contact the company at www.madvrenvy.com.
Qualifying owners of the madVR Envy Extreme MK1 will soon have the exciting opportunity to upgrade to a brand new Extreme MK2 for just 6240 EUR* with a new 5-year warranty, by trading in their Extreme MK1 in good physical condition. The company is also introducing a program for those interested in purchasing a preowned Envy Extreme MK1 with new 2- year warranty, for an outstanding value through authorized dealers, on an as-available basis. Although the MK1 models will no longer be manufactured, the MK1 will still be supported and continue to receive firmware updates.
